"To Reach Them, Teach Them and Release Them to GOD's PURPOSE."

Galatians 5:19-21 “The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Good morning it is Happy Feet Friday afternoon! Its beautiful outside and going to be all weekend, as well as it is a holiday weekend for most people. It is my desire to plant some pansies this weekend along with a few Chrysanthemums. I saw some beautiful orange and yellow ones at my office, so I am off to find them somewhere in Southern Maryland. This is domestic violence as well as breast cancer observation month, so there are more activities taking place than one can keep up with. Don't forget the LaPlata Farmer's market is still in session.

Today's text in our continuing study of acts of the flesh deals with selfish ambition. Awe I know this is one of those that is not nice, but we all have to look out for that monster. It may not be of our nature to need it, but when we become popular we can often forget what the goal and real purpose is. Too many great leaders, man and woman have fallen prey to this spirit of the flesh. They can start out humble as pie and desire to reach the goal and purpose, but as popularity comes, the crowds get bigger, their endorsements larger, and their income greater, there goes their purpose right out the window and self ambition moves in and takes root. Its no longer about service, but who we are and what our name is. Yep the sneaky devil rides up on us and next thing you know, you are blind to it and everybody sees it but yourself. Ouch! It can happen to us all so please don't think you are immune, because the Word says "the most elect shall be deceived.... Matthew 24:24 (paraphrased). Be on the lookout even if you are not a leader or public person. We can often get tied up in ourselves and our families and friends suffer as well. It can be all about us and not about them. Yep it happens to non-leaders as well. God bless, have a great weekend!
