Manna Moment -- Sinful Nature -- Part 6

Galatians 5:19-21 “The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Good morning it is Wednesday and after today it will be 2 days before the weekend! The weather will warm just a tad today as it should be over 73 sunny! Get a bike ride in this morning as it is 52 degrees already in Waldorf. Believe it or not the fall holiday season is so around the corner. I enjoy this time of the year with baking apple pies from fresh fruit and the celebratory air that flows from one event to the other! Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the Fall Bazaar at Calvary Gospel Church on Sat. 22. We will be there selling stainless steel water bottles for Domestic Violence Month to raise money for Metamorphosis!

Today’s continuation of sinful nature study looks at wrath or fits of rage. We all have anger or get upset, but this speaks about outbursts of anger that flares up and then dies. We should refrain from it as it will push us to do things we later regret. We all will get angry, but what happens with that anger is important. Out bursts of wrath has landed many of man and woman in jail because of an uncontrollable temper. They in end of up in physical fights, you often see on television where the slightest provocation ends up in a fight or murder for that matter. Not just men, but women as well. There are the social feeds that show women fights as easily as men. Just brawling as a result of lack of control of one's temper. This is not an anger that lasts over a period of time, which is unforgiveness, bitterness, but an anger that flares just because someone looked at you weird. People want to jump down your throat over nothing these days. Usually the anger than happens is not over the look, but other deep seething things that have gone unresolved and then rise up at any opportunity. The flesh which must be subdued with the Spirit and it takes the Holy Spirit to do so. Remember those acts of the flesh will keep one from inheriting the kingdom of God or other words, getting in heaven. I know it sounds harsh, but it is what it is. I wonder do Christians really believe the Word, because sometimes I don’t know about you guys, I see folk doing stuff and they go to church, now whether they know the scriptures is another thing!
