Same Difference....

I was looking at the pictures from Aunt Flora's funeral. As I looked at these pictures, I saw people that I see all the time, though I only see them every once in a while.

I know that sounds crazy, but hear me out. People are pretty much the same wherever you go.....The dialect, the accent, the food, the outfits may be different, but really, we're all the same.

We all came from somewhere, and we are all on a journey. We all have bills, we all have friends and enemies....

We all eat (usually some kind of chicken), we all wear clothes(as long as you don't belong to some Nat Geo tribe in a documentary....), we all have families...*Unless you were raised by wolves....;)

So, why is it that we look at others sometimes as "those people", as though they are so different than ourselves.

Some of my family members in the Islands look exactly like some of the folks I've met here in Missisippi.

Then I also saw that some of the people I know have the same names as my Island people. Some are addicted, some are in jail, some have great jobs, some work in blue collar positions, but it's all work at the end of the day.

I say how about we sometimes instead of looking for the differences, let's look at the similarities. You may even find yourself in the mix.....
