Minister Watson-Smith is the founder and visionary of Weapons of Praise, and outreach ministry whose purpose is to assist others in becoming effective weapons for the Kingdom. A native of Roanoke, Virginia; she is the daughter of Samuel N. Morris Sr., Bernice (Watson) Merchant, the late Wesley Watson and the stepdaughter of the late Weldon Merchant. Minister Smith graduated from William Fleming High School ('85), Virginia Western Community College ('88) and Liberty University in May, 2009 with a Bachelors of Science in Religion. She is currently seeking her Masters of Divinity Degree in Pastoral Studies from Liberty Theological Seminary. Denise owns her own business, Expressions of Love, where she makes gift baskets and jewelry. Denise is also the comical character affectionately known as Sister Lemonade, where she travels to various locations bringing joy and laughter to so many as she shares the exploits from her very own life. Minister Watson- Smith has been working on a devotional that the Lord has placed within her spirit entitled, A New Season, in addition to a book discussing the most painful periods in her life entitled Devastated But Not Defeated.
Minister Watson-Smith loves the Lord with all of her heart, and she desires to never again lean to her own understanding. She acknowledges God in all areas of her life and He does direct her paths. Through it all, the ups and downs, the ins and outs, the good and the bad, Minister Watson-Smith stood on God’s Word, but there is one scripture that she has hidden deep within her heart, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty, I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him will I trust.” (Psalm 91:1-2)
Minister Smith is married to Deacon Victor Smith, Operations NCO in the Army Reserves Career division, an anointed man of God, the love of her life and her very best friend. The Smiths’ reside in Virginia Beach, Va., and attend Pleasant Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop William D. Scott. They are the proud parents of 3 sons, Wesley, Victor II, and Joshua, 2 daughters, Victoria and JeTashawna, and a darling granddaughter, Nevaeh Angelique.
